Why Sunbeam Exists
Too many capable learners begin to believe they’re “just not good” at reading, math, or school when what they really need is support that meets them where they are.
Sunbeam was created to offer something more personal. A place where learners are understood first, supported intentionally, and given the tools to become more confident and capable in their learning.

Hey, I'm Marissa
As an educator, I kept seeing the same thing: capable kids working hard, getting frustrated, and starting to believe they just weren’t good at school.
But often, ability wasn’t the problem. They needed someone to slow down, understand where things were getting stuck, and give them the kind of support that worked for them.
That’s why I created Sunbeam.
With a background in education, psychology, and child development, I wanted to build a place where learners could be understood as individuals, strengthen the skills they need, and experience what it feels like to make real progress.
Today, that belief continues to shape how our entire team supports every learner we work with.
The Sunbeam Approach
We support the learner, not just the schoolwork.
Learning is about more than understanding the next math concept or reading skill. We start by understanding how a learner learns, what’s getting in their way, and what they need to move forward. That understanding shapes the support we provide, from the skills we work on to how we help learners build confidence and independence.
Meet them where they are
We look at what’s already working, where the gaps are, and what’s making learning harder than it needs to be. Then we build from there.
Build skills and confidence together
Getting the right answer is only part of progress. We want learners to develop the skills they need and believe they’re capable of using them.
See the whole learner
Learning doesn’t happen in isolation. We pay attention to what’s happening at school, how a learner approaches challenges, and what they need to show up ready to learn.
The program may change. The approach doesn’t.
From early learning through high school, every Sunbeam program is grounded in the same commitment to understanding the learner first.
